The true narrative depth of Ultra Instinct mastery

Image
Ultra instinct came out of nowhere especially since in all of Goku's battles the ability to dodge and attack faster than your opponents can predict/follow was simply an advantage of being so much stronger than them, no matter how many they were. But from the narrative point of view, Ultra instinct mastery is just a continuation of Toriyama's idea that Goku needs to master techniques too and not just power-ups to prove how much stronger he's gotten.Goku learns one technique from each of his masters:  Kamehameha from Master roshi,  martial arts principles from korin,  energy control from Kami,  the Kaioken and spirit bomb from King Kai, and  the instant transmission from Pybara of Planet Yardrat... then suddenly Goku's no longer learning techniques, but just how to break his own limits and master new transformations. Goku's masters had been giving Goku strength training in various forms, but not with the intent that he'd be a meat bag that packed a punch, but a f...

5 essential characteristics of Vegeta every Dragon Ball fan should know

Image
Vegeta, Goku's enduring rival, possesses layers of complexity beyond his fierce exterior.  While many Dragon Ball fans recognize his pride and strength, there are five essential characteristics often overlooked: 1. The Pride Vegeta's pride is not just an inflated ego; it's a tangible inheritance. Shattered by Goku during their first intense battle in the well-known Saiyan saga: his pride is intertwined with his identity.  It's not merely a facade but a deeply ingrained aspect of his being, the foundation of his resolve, responsibility, and power.  To Vegeta, pride is not just a trait but a creed, it is as real as pain itself. Vegeta's pride is personal, it isn't something he expects anyone to understand or accept. 2. Goku's exact contrast  Unlike Goku's carefree nature, Vegeta embodies discipline and determination.  He is an elite Saiyan warrior, upholds the Saiyan ways with a sense of duty and honor. He is proactive, cautious, and meticulous—a stark con...

Migatte no Gokui: How Goku used Ultra Instinct in the DBS anime

Image
Goku first drew on Ultra Instinct in his battle against Jiren the grey, by far the strongest opponent the Saiyan had ever faced. Yet, with his limit being super saiyan blue, he had no answer for Jiren's sheer power... until, he awoke Ultra Instinct -- migatte no gokui . DBS anime... Whis teaches both Goku and Vegeta prior to their battle against the resurrected Freeza that they need to learn to allow their bodies to move without conscious thought and that once they overcome that hurdle, they'll have the speed to evade all damage. Tournament Of Power Recap Goku first activates Ultra Instinct in the tournament of power against Jiren, when all his power (super Saiyan blue plus kaioken times 20 and a powerful spirit bomb) aren't enough to defeat him. First, Goku's eyes become stern and focused, and he has a brilliant gradient aura after he unlocks incomplete ultra instinct. Then against Kefla, Goku finds incomplete ultra instinct again but this time, he delves much deeper i...

Review: Mashle Magic & Muscles

Image
Yesterday, as I scrolled on my guilty-pleasure anime site for something fun and new, because I was bored of rewatching old series like Naruto Shippuden , Boruto: Naruto Next Generations , etc., I stumbled on Mashle: Magic & Muscles and I was pleasantly satisfied. It had the right blend of comedy and action and sentiment that I was seeking. Mashle is a story about Mash, a Saitama-like character living in a magic-is-everything world, quite like Black Clover . Mashle takes comedy as the priority and every episode delivers on the humor front. The stakes are clear but aren't exaggerated like in other shonen (such as Black Clover or My Hero Academia). I was able to enjoy Mashle enough to complete the first season in a night. It was very fun and entertaining, and the introductory episode guarantees the next will be at least just as fun and worth the watch, unlike legacy shows such as Bleach or Yu Yu Hakusho which I can't bring myself to continue. Mashle is a perfect blend of On...

Debunking: Black Clover is just another Naruto

Image
I've seen a lot of posts like this one and I wanted to prove their falsehoods.  Black Clover is very different from Naruto. Some of the people who post about this have these 3 arguments: 1) Asta and Naruto have similar backstories Both Asta and Naruto are treated poorly by many others because of their talentlessness and unfortunate circumstances. 2) The female mages are Kunoichi rip-offs In particular, they claim Noelle is like Sakura and is defending rather than being useful in the offense. Also that Mimosa is another Hinata. 3) Asta's motto is just a spin on Naruto's ninja way Asta's magic being "never giving up" is just a spin on Naruto's ninja way to never go back on his words. And also that Asta wanting to become the Wizard king is just like Naruto wanting to become Hokage. All these arguments seemingly hold-up on a cursory glance, but they're actually very false in general. Here's why 1) Asta wasn't shunned, he was part of a group of vict...

Is Gohan Beast mode a mortal power just like Jiren's?

Image
Goku's battle against Gohan is upcoming in this month's chapter and a question from Goku suggests Beast mode is not a divine transformation, meaning it doesn't use divine energy. Goku asks Gohan if his new power is like Super saiyan 2 or 3, but Gohan says its beast—named by Piccolo—and not a super saiyan transformation at all. Gohan's Beast mode might be a totally mortal power, and because it's so powerful it could be on the level of Jiren the Grey's, the 11th Universe's champion. This wouldn't be surprising at all because Jiren is proof that mortals can get stronger than destroyers. In the Tournament of Power, Jiren's power wasn't called divine; although that doesn't mean it is a mortal power, it's highly likely that it is 100% mortal power. The three-way Deadlock in Universe 7 This would make Gohan Beast one of the strongest mortals to have mortal power that can rival godly powers like Ultra instinct and ultra ego (by extension)—exactl...

Mitsuki's Troubled Heart: The Deep significance of his Sun

Image
Mitsuki is confused. The Kawaki that he thinks is his sun isn't acting the way he remembers. Unfortunately Mitsuki hasn't yet caught on to the fact that he's under the Omnipotence Spell and trapped into remembering the opposite of the past. Chapter 7 appears to be about Mitsuki's grapple against Omnipotence: whether he'll discover that Boruto is the real son of Lord seventh or still trapped in the opposite reality that Kawaki is his Sun. Mitsuki's a kind person, quite like Naruto and its clear that he's in great distress because he's misaligned and acting very contrary to his normal self. Mitsuki's unable to tame his rage, and thus is securely locked into the Omnipotence shinjutsu Eida unconsciously activated. However Mitsuki's having some doubts, he appears to be reevaluating his resolve to kill Boruto, the man he believes is responsible for causing hurr to his sun. Chapter 7 will show us what Mitsuki's thinking and feeling and if Mitsuki...
